What is a biblical view of debt?

In this short video (2:15), Ron shares the biblical view of debt. He shares that, while borrowing is not a sin, it does enslave us to the lender and to the obligation of that debt. He reminds us that debt is symptomatic of other issues and that we need to look carefully at the reasons behind our debt.

As always, Ron’s encouragement to you is to go back to God’s Word to restore your faith. Take a moment to consider the following Scriptures, and meditate on their Truth and their application.

Proverbs 22:7 (NASB)
“The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender's slave.”

Deuteronomy 28:12 (NASB)
“The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”

Psalm 37:21
(NASB) “The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives.”

Romans 13:8 (NASB)
”Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”
