Does it make a difference who wins the election on Tuesday?
In this video, Ron gives his perspective the presidential election on Tuesday, November 4th. His view is that while the country’s economy and our personal economy will certainly be affected by the outcome of the election, our response to that outcome should not change. First of all, we should vote our conscience and our values. Secondly, we should realize that our personal economy will always be subject to God’s truths and principles of money management – no matter the administration. Finally, we can look to prominent Old Testament figures to absorb the lesson that, “we should do what only we can do.” God has gifted you for certain things and calls you to exercise those gifts as a citizen of your country.
As always, Ron’s encouragement to you is to go back to God’s word to restore your faith. Take a moment to consider the following scriptures and mediate on their truth and their application.
I Timothy 2:1-5 (NKJV)
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,”
Philippians 4:4-7 (NKJV)
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Remember that our call as Christians is to pray for those in authority over us. We have the opportunity in the next week to cover the election and its outcome in prayer. By recognizing that our salvation is in the person of Jesus Christ, we can surrender the outcome of the election to His perfect will and pray for those in leadership with a heart that is free from fear. Our joy is founded in the power and grace and redemptive work of God – therefore we are set free to pray confidently and believe in the goodness of God in the outcome. |
