Christ’s poverty and our riches

Hello, my name is Ron Blue. What a joyous time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior! It is a majestic time.

Many years ago, God gave me a verse that really was the Christmas story. It was so impactful in my life that all of the books that I ever sign for somebody, I always put that verse. I almost always use that verse. The verse is II Corinthians 8:9. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He become poor, that we through His poverty might become rich.” (NASB)

That is the Christmas story – He was rich, and He became poor – so that I, living here on earth, might become rich also. He gave it all, and that is the Christmas story. That the creator God of the universe became a man so that you and I – He gave up all of those rights as God – so that you and I can experience forgiveness and relationship here and now, but (also) for all eternity. May our Lord keep this verse in your heart and mind as you buy the gifts and celebrate the Christmas season.
