What is Biblical Stewardship? A Growth Process
Hello, my name is Ron Blue. I want to talk about stewardship a little bit more today. One of the things that is reality is understanding that you and I are always in a growth process. In other words, we’re never ever going to really reach the end until we get to heaven, and we’re a finished product at that point. But, while we’re living here on earth, we are in a growth process. And, hopefully we take all the experiences of life and use them and interpret them in terms of growth.
The parable of the talents: twice in the parable of the talents it says, “Well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful with a few things. Now I will put you in charge of many things. Come and enter the joy of your master.” We could spend a lot of time talking about that verse and those two verses, because it’s repeated twice. But the reality of it is that I am being prepared for something else. He said, “You have been faithful with a few things, now I’m going to put you in charge of many things.” So, I don’t understand it, and I don’t need to understand it, but somehow the way I manage my life, the way I steward my life today has ramifications, has implications on how I get to spend eternity. I’m not talking about more or less rewards, but what I do know is that He said, “Now I’m going to put you in charge of many things because you’ve managed well a few things.”
My encouragement is to not lose heart in the process, not to lose heart in the battle, because we never reach the end while we’re here on earth. We are always in a growth process. And, I use the experiences of life to learn. How is it that you get wisdom? By the mistakes that you make. Learn how to interpret all of life through the paradigm of, “I’m an eternal creature, headed for eternity.
