Practicing the Presence of God, Part 2
Hello, I’m Ron Blue. The last time that I shared with you, I was talking about practicing the presence of God. You (can) tie that into – to God be the glory, or the end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. We talked about, on a moment-by-moment basis, rejoicing always, praying without ceasing, in all things giving thanks. And I would say this – that is a discipline, and it’s a discipline that I can practice.
Here’s the beginning point, however, of all that. Paul says in Scripture, taking every thought captive unto the obedience of Christ. So, it is the discipline of controlling my thought life, because my thought life is totally up to me. I get to choose what I think about. So, if I can put into my heart and mind rejoicing always, praying without ceasing, in all things giving thanks, I am going to be (through the discipline of controlling my thought life) practicing the presence of God.
That other thing that I want to continue to remember, as I mentioned earlier, and that is: God is good and God is sovereign. He can work in my life to bring glory to Himself as I practice His presence, day to day, moment by moment, through the discipline of controlling my thought life.
